10/07/28 PPKC Race day & competition update

PPKC Board of Directors Meeting:
Registration:
PPKC is currently looking for ways to help speed up the mornings registration process, that will enable us to get karts on the track practicing promptly at 9:00am.We are asking for volunteers to help out for an hour or so on race day in the morning, to help get everything set-up and also assist with paperwork at registration. We would also like to have everyone who comes to register for events, to have their paperwork filled out ahead of time. This would help speed up the registration process. All the forms can be found on the website under the download’s section. Registration opens at 8:00am and closes at 8:45am. This means you must be in line to register and not arriving at the track at 8:45am.

PPKC would also like to remind all teams and their guests that at the end of the day please make sure your pit area is clean and that all trash is placed in the barrels located along the fences. All oil and used tires can be disposed of in the recycling containers also located along the fence. Also, for all teams using heat guns to remove rubber build up, please do not leave shaved rubber on ground. Its our house. lets keep it clean.

The PPKC board also discussed some changes to help reduce cost and ways to try and equal the completion for the 2 cycle classes. The Board strongly believes that seperating classes will not help young drivers to develop their skills as much as equalizing the playing field and allowing bigger classes with more competitors. It was decided that the following concessions will be made by competitors, to enable classes to compete together.

Starting as of the next race day on Aug 7th

Tag / 2 cycle Classes

- All racers in the TAG Jr and TAG senior classes who wish to compete for race day trophies and Season Championship are to use Mojo D2 Tires with a minimum 2 race day of usuage.
- Tag Masters regularly participating racers and PPKC members will use Mg Yellow or Vega Blue tire with a min 2 race day min to be eligible for the points and trophies.
- Note: 2 day race min means you must use the same set of club marked tires for 2 full race days excluded practice sessions before starting on new tires .
- Tag Sr and Tag Masters will run together unless both classes have more than 5 karts entered in each class.
- Tag Sr and Tag Masters will be scored separately and each class winner can carry the checkered flag in the feature race.
- Anyone that falls out of the rotation of the scheduled new / used tires race days, and plans on participating with new tires, must start at the back for the first two heat races. Racers will be able to start feature based on finishing results from heat races.
- Any casual guest racers are allowed to use any of the official tires listed on the website for the TAG class they are entering. We encourage guest racers to run the same club spec tire if possible, but it is not mandatory .
- Mini Max and TAG Jr will run together unless both classes have more than 5 karts entered in each class for the raceday.
- Mini Max and Tag Jr they will run together but be started seperately for all races
- Mini Max and TAG Jr will be scored separately and each class winner can carry the checkered flag after feature win.

10/05/14 -Club Information and Schedule changes

Now that the first two races are complete, Your PPKC board of directors held a meeting on Tues May 11 to discuss and propose different ways to provide PPKC members & racers with the most economical possible race day experience. Your board is considering some further cost saving ideas for the memberships consideration . If accepted by majority of Members, our intentions would be to implement changes for next race day or as soon as possible.
Listed below is the boards proposals, are for the considerations for of the members. We are looking for 100% response participation.

Cost savings proposals:
Registration
- reduction in registration for additional classes entered per Driver ( 2nd class entered per race day to $50 plus spec fuel )

Competition
- spec gears for Cadet & Novice classes based on track configuration on all race days.

Tires
-Option #1 - switch to a harder tire compound for all four cycle classes. (testing is currently being done with MG Reds at this time at the track) We must be careful of this option, as it may limit our ability to attract out of town racers or one off participants.

-Option #2 - Min # of race days per set of tires , class specific ( example: SR med 2 races min per set / Cadet 5 races etc.) Tires will be stamped and/or branded if implemented. PPKC will indicate on schedule which race days permit the use of new tires. Weight penalty would apply to anyone who is not on the correct cycle of new /used tires, or that uses new tires as a guest competitor

Oil
-(4 cycle ) switch to spec oil, Mobile 1 or another cost effective oil, without compromising engine wear. Oil would be distributed in a similar way as spec fuel.

Please note: the finer details will have to be worked out on any or all cost reduction proposals that are accepted by the majority of the clubs members .

The board is also looking for additional cost saving ideas from club members. We value input on the above mentioned ideas and look forward to implementing ASAP to help drive down the cost of racing during these tough economic times. Please email your responses and ideas to ppkc_09@hotmail.com or any of the board members listed on the PPKC website .

Please note: all anonymous emails received will be discarded , please sign your name and contact info so the board members can inquire more information or clarification if needed .

Fund Raising Raffle tickets :

Raffle ticket money will be collected at the next race day . All raffle ticket money is due by June 20th . Any registered PPKC driver who has not handed in their raffle ticket stubs & money will not be scored from the June 20th race forward .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Important PPKC 2010 race schedule change :

May 30th race day has been moved to June 27th due to the amount of club members planning on attending the Eastern Canadian Karting Championships event and the Indy 500 . Any out of town racers who race the June 27th event at PPK can leave there trailers in preferred parking spots for the Brian Stewart Event the following weekend . We are trying to attract out of town racers to participate before the big race. PPKC_Schedule_change
